The Rev. Dr. Anne Burkholder is passionately committed to raising up creative, distinctive, and dedicated leaders for the 21st century Methodist church. As a self-proclaimed polity geek, diversity and inclusion advocate, and UM Polity professor for nine years, she offers insights into the complexities (and absurdities) of UMC rules and practices

She longs to help others with re-imagining Methodism at its best.

Ordained in the Florida conference, after 30 plus years of ministry and leadership in Florida as an urban ministries director, local church pastor, district superintendent, and director of connectional ministries, she moved to Candler where she now works with students moving through discernment, candidacy, and commissioning as the Dean of Methodist Studies.

She has attended six general conferences, seven jurisdictional conferences, and 43 annual conference sessions (in Florida). She served as the chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry and oversaw the re-organization of the Florida Conference structure while serving in Florida.

Burkholder is an internationally recognized speaker and a co-author of The Quick and Easy Guide to United Methodist Polity, due out in spring, 2018 (just in time to be revised following the 2019 and 2020 general conferences!).

You don’t have to wait for her book to come out to hear all her thoughts on Methodism, she will be sharing them right here.
